Education and Associations
I have a Bachelor of Physical/Recreation Education from the University of British Columbia and Master of Arts in Psychology. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and a Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers, as well as a member of the Satir Institute of the Pacific.
I have worked at Langley Youth and Family Services since it’s inception in 1977, serving 40 years as program director. For 20 years of that time, I also had a contract with the BC Coroner’s Service, investigating the factors leading up to suicide deaths.
Areas of Focus
Oppositional behavior, ADHD, Anger and aggression, parent-coaching and support, trauma
My focus is on working with parents together with their children, based on the belief that no one is in a better position to facilitate lasting change than the caregiver. I offer a listening ear but will also teach if necessary. The Satir approach to therapy is systemic, in that individual problems exist only in context of the larger family system. It is experiential in nature and focused on achieving transformational, lasting change.
I’ve always been an avid outdoorsman and love canoeing, fishing, hiking, camping, and archery and generally being busy outside.
