Education and Associations

I completed a BSc in psychology, health and anthropology from the University of Toronto and a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trinity Western University. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Experience

During graduate school, I interned at LYFS as student counselor and now work as a Youth and Family Therapist with LYFS. I have had the privilege of working with clients for the past 2.5 years.

Areas of Focus

Attachment, parenting, anger/aggression/rage outburst, anxiety, strengthening child-parent relationships and alpha children.

Approach

Research clearly indicates that a child’s attachment to their parents is the strongest buffer against any unfavourable circumstances (such as bullying, trauma etc.). As parents become better equipped to be an anchoring rock for their child, their children will be better able to regulate their emotions, become more resilient and develop healthy coping strategies. I see my role as a therapist to work with families to strengthen child-parent attachment so that they can reap the wonderful benefits of a healthy bond.

Something Else

Up until the age of 6, I grew up speaking Russian. Now, as an adult, I hardly ever speak it anymore and am quickly forgetting my mother tongue. Perhaps it’s time to start practicing?
